The Art of Creation is a Physical Act
Share
The art of creation is very much a physical act.
The urge to create surges through the human body and is born into the world transferred through and to a particular medium.
The science behind the urge to create and the electrical signals throughout the body are measurable.
Having an idea is sometimes referred to as a lightbulb moment.
Historically, creative inspiration was seen as being touched by God or depicted as literally being illuminated.

Based on founder, Stephanie's, most popular post on Threads @creativeartifactshq, this reflection is one of many that have been emerging—slowly, organically—as I begin to gather thoughts around creativity, embodiment, Rick Rubin's book The Creative Act: A Way of Being approaches this from a spiritual and personal standpoint, and, of course, related to the debate around what is art in the age of AI. This reflection is one of many that have been quietly forming—threaded through my background in psychology, particularly neuroscience, art history, my work as a professional artist and maker, and my long-standing belief that creativity is inate and accessible to us all.
I hope to expand on this initial creative manifesto of sorts. For now, this is a small opening. A spark. A touch of light. To inspire your creative being.
